What Ashwood is - and is not

Ashwood is clinical decision support for emergency-department triage. It suggests a triage level using deterministic rules based on the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale and shows the criteria behind every suggestion. It does not diagnose, does not prescribe, and does not replace the judgment of nurses and physicians, who remain responsible for all clinical decisions and can override any suggestion at any time.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or alert staff immediately. Do not rely on the check-in screen, the symptom interview, or any wait-time estimate in an emergency - estimates are informational and conditions in an emergency department change minute to minute.

Use of the service

Patients may use the check-in flow only to register their own visit (or a visit for someone in their care) at a participating site, and must provide information that is accurate to the best of their knowledge. Staff surfaces are for authorized personnel of the deploying site only.

You agree not to probe, overload, or disrupt the service; not to attempt to access data that is not yours; not to submit automated traffic; and not to use the service to build a competing product. We rate-limit and monitor for abuse and may suspend access that threatens the service or its users.

Pilot status and availability

Ashwood is a working prototype provided during pilots on an "as available" basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, and hospital fallback procedures (paper triage, direct nurse registration) remain in place at every deployment. Features may change as the product develops.

Intellectual property

The Ashwood software, design, and content are owned by Ashwood Health or its licensors. The Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) and CEDIS are the property of their respective owners; Ashwood implements published guidance and pursues the required permissions with the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians before commercialization.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ashwood Health is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing in them alters the deploying hospital’s responsibility for clinical care or the terms of any written agreement between Ashwood and a deploying site, which prevails over these terms where they conflict.

Governing law, changes and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it. We may update these terms as the product evolves; the revision date above reflects the latest version, and material changes affecting a deployed site are communicated to that site in advance.
